What is CAD/CAE?

Computer-aided design and development refers to the creation of digital design models that form the basis for the subsequent manufacture of real products.

In the course of the programme, students gain a deeper insight into the functionality and scope of performance of various CAD programme systems. The correct use of these is taught in practical exercises.

Teaching in the laboratory

In order to ensure practical training, students complete coursework in the Design/CAD and Design/Methodology courses during their engineering degree programme.

Students specialising in product development work on current issues from industry and develop solutions using design and calculation methods. They acquire advanced software skills, such as the programme- and table-controlled creation of components and assemblies.

In addition to the courses, the CAD/CAE laboratory offers students the opportunity to get to know new programmes in free block and semester courses in CAD electives and to receive a training certificate upon successful participation.

Outside of the courses, the CAD/CAE laboratory can be used by all students to prepare design work, student research projects or final theses.
